The 2022 R1 GYTR Is Ready To Race Straight Out Of The Box - ZigWheels

Yamaha has pulled the wraps of the 2022 YZF-R1 GYTR, a track-exclusive avatar of its flagship supersport. And just like the Yamaha R6 GYTR that was unveiled last year, its litre-class sibling packs a bunch of race-oriented parts.

Since Yamaha has built this purely with the intention of racing, it is void of anything that would make it road legal. The GYTR gets a glass fibre carbon reinforced bodywork finished in primer for buyers to take it straight to the paint shop and customise it. Then there’s the new bubble windscreen and a race-spec seat for this track scorcher.

The Yamaha GYTR also packs an Akrapovic exhaust system, GYTR wiring harness, GYTR Race ECU, GYTR ABS Emulator, a new 5/42T sprocket set, GYTR R-series 520 racing chain, Brembo Z04 brake pads, GYTR stainless steel braking lines and an engine cover.

For those who want to dial things up a notch, Yamaha also has a bunch of ‘Pro’ parts available for the R1 GYTR. Parts like a new swingarm, low gravity fuel tank, carbon fibre subframe, new instrument console, Marelli electronic package, air ducts for front brake calipers, and an upgraded steering damper.

The Yamaha R1 GYTR uses the same 999cc inline-four cylinder from the standard bike. While performance numbers of the track-only bike are yet to be revealed, the standard bike makes 200PS and 113Nm.

Yamaha will be selling the track-only R1 only via GYTR Pro shops, and needless to say, India doesn’t have any. And though we might not get this bike, the Japanese bikemaker could soon launch the R7 and MT-09 SP in India.

Any suggestions - Ideas to improve the quality
