Parts of Bedworth's biggest park will be fenced off over the coming weeks with the arrival of machinery. This will mark the start of groundworks ahead of the construction of the new Physical Activity Hub and new features in the Miners Welfare Park.

The 'game-changing' programme will see the town's tired ageing leisure centre replaced with a state-of-the-art facility. It will boast two new pools, as well as wider changes made to the area around the current centre.

There will also be wider works in the park as well a new 'green corridor'. That will link the leisure centre to the town centre itself.

A letter has been sent out to those who live nearby to give them a heads-up about the works just in case they were alarmed at the sight of machinery. In it, it explains that, over the next few weeks, a team of engineers will be in the park to bore holes and trial pits around the park.

This is to assess the ground conditions to enable the final design requirements for the centre. They will be using a boring machine and a small excavator in various areas around the park.

Working areas will be fenced off for safety reasons and a small compound will be located near the southern entrance while the team are on site. It has been stressed that the works are set to last around three weeks and will only be carried out during normal working hours and not at weekends.
